Which Dog?

Holy cannoli!  Is it seriously almost Christmas?!?!?!?  I cannot believe how fast it got here.  That is just crazy.  Anyway, I am in a pickle.  You all have seen the puppy I am supposed to be getting for Blaze.  He is a super cute doll!  He costs a little bit too.  I found a 9 month old puppy that is already house trained and fixed with dewclaws clipped and all vaccinations for free.  She is a pretty pup too.  She is a mixed breed though.  Not that I have a problem with mixed breeds as I have had a few in my time.  This lady's husband is in Iraq for a long tour and she has had to go to work full time and leave the pup at home a lot which she didn't have to do before.  My question is do I get the full blooded registered and simply gorgeous Great Dane and train it my self so I know it is trained correctly.  Or do I get the other puppy who really needs a home and is supposedly already trained?   I don't know, I am so confused.  She is pretty but you never really know how a dog is when you get one that has been in a home for a while.  But she is still very young at 9 months and easily retrained if needed.  The great dane up is 3 months tomorrow so just ripe and ready to start training.  It would save me quite a bit of money to get the female pup too.  I can't ignore that fact in these times.  And it would be great to not have to house train a pup in freezing cold weather...lol.  I also know that the Great Dane will not go to a shelter if I don't take him but the other will have to if she can't find a home for her.  Man.  I am just confused.  No I don't expect you guys to make my decision for me.  I am just sounding off really and trying to write things down so I can make a decision.  If you have any input that is great also.  So for the record here is a pic of each one of them.  You will see why it is so hard for me...lol.

Winner and The Homeless

First of all the contest winner is syssmith76 over at A Queen Among Kings.  Contact me through my email on my profile and send me your name and mailing addy and I will send out your Starbucks gift card!  I hope you enjoy your cup of coffee!!
I have not picked a name for the puppy yet but I did get a lot of good ideas.  It is true that it is easier to name one when you get to see them in action and how they respond to you.  He is a cutie though and we are excited.  Blaze is going to be so stoked.

I am so happy with how Blaze is doing post surgery.  He is so happy and healthy and active.  Oh...wait...he was active even when he was sick...lol.  But seriously he is doing great and all of that glory goes to God.  He is an awesome Father to us all and takes wonderful care of us.  Thank you God for loving my son and healing him through a doctor's competent hands.

Today was a busy but productive and very fulfilling day.  We woke up this morning and I just gave Blaze a little to eat because his Granny had plans for him.  She works for our hospital and every year they sell tickets and do a Breakfast With Santa.  You get to eat ( and our hospital food is good by the way!) and they make pictures of the kids with Santa.  I have been showing Blaze shows about Christmas with Santa in them and mentioning Santa and reading books with Santa to kind of prepare him.  I didn't want him to freak out like so many kids do.  He did last year.  Not so much this time.  He saw a candy can and he had no issues getting on Santa's lap.  He was pretty happy about the candy cane and opened it and was chowing down while I was getting our food.  he was not too happy when I had to take it away from him because he is still not supposed to have anything with sharp edges and I am pretty sure a broken candy cane would qualify as sharp.  Oops.  but it didn't cause any issues so it is all good.  And for some reason today he wanted to carry his sock monkey with him and when I tried to get him to leave it in the car he raised cane.  So the monkey came in too. I figure it is no big deal.
After we ate we came back home and I dropped Blaze off at his Mamaw's with his Daddy and I went to my house to meet my cousin.  you might remember here while back I had mentioned collecting hat and scarf sets for the homeless who are living in a tent city in my town.  Well, with a lot of help from the ladies at Crochetville I collected almost 40 sets.  That is a lot!  So I had those and my cousin bought a lot of food for the people there.  We took all of that to this tent city to give to the homeless.  When I opened the hatch on the Blazer the guy that came to help just said Wow.  They were so thankful and thrilled.  I was so happy to help them.  maybe they will stay a little warmer and a little fuller because of it.

READ

Make sure to check out my last post.  I have a small giveaway surprise at the end from ME!  Just for Christmas and for reading my blog!  Here are the pics I took of the puppy.  Warning, they are not the best because I took them with my phone and...well...he is a puppy.  He wouldn't be still but he loved pulling on my sweater...lol.  I just loved him and snuggled and he will be coming home next Friday or Saturday!!  Yay!  Balze is going to have a blast!  he is just a little dirty from being in the pen but a good scrub will make him shine I am sure!  Look at the size of those feet though!  He just turned 11 weeks on Wednesday.

Christmas Pics and a Surprise at The End

I got Blaze all clean and cute in his Christmas CARS pj's a few nights ago and started trying to take some pictures for Christmas cards.  This is what turned out ok after taking probably 4 times this many...lol.  he is just so cute I can't stand it.  We haven't even made it to have his picture taken with Santa yet because of him being sick and then having surgery but hopefully I will get that done before Christmas...maybe.  I also may be introducing a new family member as Blaze's big Christmas gift.  Not a brother or sister!  I wish but it is not so.  But maybe a new puppy.  He is a beautiful puppy from the pic I saw of him.  I have an appointment to go see him tomorrow morning.  He is an 11 week old registered Blue Merle Great Dane.  Yes I know that is really a horse in disguise.  But anyone who really knows me knows that when I want a dog, I want a real dog.  Not something I am afraid of breaking lol.  Yes, he would be an inside dog.  I don't believe in just leaving dogs outside to just roam or fend for themselves.  And I will NOT chain one up.  I am also a firm believer in proper training for a dog.  But I just love me some puppy squishiness!!  I definitely would not have to worry about Blaze hurting him heehee.  Anyway, when I know more on that front I will let you guys know.  I only have one pic and it is not the greatest but I will take some tomorrow and show you.  Without further ado here are the pics I managed to capture of Blaze.  Feel free to comment and let me know your favorite one as I have a hard time choosing.  Also just for fun, I have a $10 Starbuck's GC to give away to one lucky commenter.  That simple...just for leaving a comment.  Feel free to tell me what picture you like or suggest a name for the puppy.  it has to be a big name.  Not like a long name but a tough sounding name.  Anyway, comment away and I will pick a winner sometime Saturday using random.org.  Have a wonderful day!
